HISTORICAL NOTE (copied from the above page): "Owing to insurmountable difficulties, the proposed 1937 production of 'Katinka' was abandoned, and subsequently it was deemed necessary to widen the scope of the Society if it was to continue its useful work. The only successful way of accomplishing this was to create an entirely new Society, to be known as 'The Yeovil and District Amateur Operatic Society', who have pleasure in presenting to you the celebrated Musical Comedy 'The Arcadians'".

In the centre is 'The Deuce', who made a "fleeting but triumphal appearance as the finale of the second act" - possibly the only stage performance in Yeovil by a horse! The Arcadians cast on stage, with Mr George Mumford as the mournful jockey 'Peter Doody' and S Dobson as 'Simplicitas'
